The Macular Society

Supporting the Macular Society in 2014

With 2013 just about to come to a close - we wanted to announce that we have chosen to support The Macular Society as our charity of the year in 2014. We are exciting about working with them once more and look forward to sponsoring the London Conference in 2014.

Running For Charity!

Ben and Hanifa both ran half marathons this year in aid of the Macular Society. Ben ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London and Hanifa ran The Great Eastern Run in Peterborough.

Ben completed his run with a fantastic time of 1 hour 42 minutes and 29 seconds! Sadly, Hanifa was not so lucky! At 7 miles she picked up an injury and hobbled all the way to the finish! But she did complete it!

Macular Society London Conference 2013

We are sponsoring the Macular Society 2013 London Conference on 28th September 2013. You can find out more here: London Conference 2013

While there is it possible to hear from some of the UK's leading experts on research into macular conditions, the full agenda is available here: Agenda

Running For Charity

VisionAid Technologies Ltd has chosen The Macular Society as our charity of the year. By choosing the Macular Society as our charity of the year we hope to raise awareness of the work that they do and the support that they offer those with Macular Degeneration.

As part of our desire to raise awareness of the charity, three members of our team (Ellis, Ben and Hanifa) are running half marathons with the aim of fundraising over £1000! Training is fully underway now with all three of them racking up the miles in hope that they will be able to complete the half marathon in good time! Here is a quick snap shot of the team showing off their Macular Society t-shirts! If you would like to donate and help us raise money for the cause, you can do so here on our JustGiviing page: http://www.justgiving.com/visionaid

We are also working with Macular Society groups and are available to as 'speakers' for groups. It is possible for us to provide groups with a demonstration of the products so that they know what is available for them and how the devices can enable them to continue to read or to start reading again.

We've already been to quite a few group meetings in Boston, Lincoln and Grantham.
